There are a lot of theories about what will happen in the year 2012. According to the Mayan calendar, there is no December 22, 2012. Also, some scientists believe that twelvth planet, Nibiru, is coming to the Earth. Moreover, many scientists believe that earth’s pole will be changed in 2012 by Nibiru. What is the truth? Will the Earth will be extinct by 2012?
The Mayan were people who lived in South America. They obtained accurate astronomic information by observing the sky, calculating very accurately, predicting by using their information, and making their own calendar. Their predictions proved true. Unfortunately, the Mayan calendar finishes on December 21, 2012. The Mayans said there are six suns in history and when each sun disappears, humans would have a crisis. They said already five suns have disappeared and the last sun will disappear in 2012.
Others believe Nibiru which is called planet X is coming to the Earth and it will change the poles, and possibly cause volcano eruptions or severe earthquakes. Astronomers say Nibiru revolves around the Sun every 3600 years. They say Nibiru is bigger than Earth so it has strong gravity. Because of that, some say there are notable occasions when it comes to the Earth. When it rotates close to Earth, because of its strong gravitational pull, the crust will move up and volcanos will erupt. Moreover, its gravity will change the poles and the earth’s magnetic field will disappear and solar winds will come to the earth directly. This could cause the earth to burn by solar energy. Almost species will become extinct and only one third of humans will survive.
There are other theories that are being circulated concerning the end of the world. The first one is the world will be destroyed by nuclear weapons. Scientists say there will be a war involving nuclear weapons and they will destroy the world. Countries will not be able to restore damage caused by nuclear power. The second theory is about Web-Bot which predicts the stock market. According to Web-Bot, there are no statistics for 2012. Because of that, many people believe in 2012 the earth will become extinct. The last theory involves natural disasters. Storms are becoming stronger and earthquakes occur more often. Scientists say in 2012 a huge solar wind will arrive destroying most living things.

Even though there are a lot of theories, nobody knows exactly when the earth will become extinct. Fortunately, these theories are not facts just theories. Some people say these theories are ridiculous. They say these theories are not scientific. But scientists do agree that the green house effect is having an important impact on the world’s climate. Because of the green house effect, glaciers are melting. Glaciers are made by fresh water not salt water so oceanic currents can be stopped by this fresh water. If oceanic currents stop, the energy cannot move so the temperature will decrease and another Ice Age will begin. The movie The Day After Tomorrow deals with this theory. While it makes a good story for film makers, the end of the earth remains a mystery to most of us.

I think this whole theory is ridiculous. The only reason I would be disappointed is because I wouldn’t get to have Christmas that year. But it wouldn’t matter though, I’d be dead.
But in all seriousness, we have no idea what’s going to happen. We are so easily influenced by what the media tells us, what we should fear. No wonder people have anxiety over this.

The whole stories are JUST THEORIES. Nobody knows when the earth extinct. However, the earth can extinct much earier by human activities. We need to concern about our behaviors which can be impact on the earth.

There have been multiple dates throughout human life when different cultures predicted the world would end. Think back in 1968, when the world would blow up because transportation was advancing. 2000 on New Years Eve @ 12midnight the world was suppose to end, it didn’t…. Technology advanced!!! Jan. 5, 2005 when NASA said there is too much oxygen on Earth and it couldn’t hold. No one can predict the end of time. Only God can have that say so. As a Christian I think I’ll stick with Gods word….. WHEN NO ONE EXPECTS IT!

I don’t believe that the world will end in 2012, but I don’t agree with knocking thier theories either. Because really, no one knows when the world is going to end, and how much karma would it be if it ended, say, December 22nd of 2012?
Unless you know when the world will end, you really have no right to mock anyones theory. Its like religion- we all have different ideas.

I thing that this theory is simply stupid because no-one really knows when the world will end. Just because a calender *that alot of people DON’T go by* stops at 2012 makes that fact true. I’m just going to move on with my life and not wait for the world to end in 2012 it’s a waste of my time!

I hope not. Because it would suck BIIIIIIGGGGGGG Time. The reason why is because in 2012 that is the year I Graduate.lol.. It is a year that many will graduate high school. If this were to happen I think that many people will be disappointed that they were not able to do or achieve the things they planned on doing in life. Oh, but I almost forgot, the title is a little off. Extinction basically means the disappearing of some species or object… it should say more along the lines of “Will the Earth’s Population Die Out in 2012?” or so. I mean, I haven’t heard any theories of the world literally disappearing… yet.
