Jeffersontown wrestling team is the new talk of the school. The team is preparing to go to state, working hard and staying focused on the goal they are trying to obtain. The team is full of hardworking individuals, some that have been interested from freshman year. The seniors have stepped up their game and are prepared to make this their most memorable year.

           The team is looking forward to this year’s games and championship. Yusuf Mamedov has been having his eyes on the prize since he started wrestling. With his 19-8 record he can’t wait until they get to state. “Can’t wait to wrestle at 103 pounds at state tournament and be state champ,” says Yusuf with a look of determination on his face.

            The seniors are looking forward to dominating their senior year also. TeAndre Taylor who weighs 112 has had his best year so far. The record he pulls is 24-1; losing only 1 match he still keeps his head up high and his eyes on destroying his competition.

     “We are doing better, with a better attitude and I’m looking forward to getting a scholarship to Lindsey Wilson.” Nicu Alexandru states, “I could have done better and I’m looking forward to placing high at state.” Nicu has a record of 12-2 and he’s still striving to be the best.

     Dair Sharlpov weighs a strong 145 and feels just as strong about his time as a wrestler. “I feel really good about this season and the team went far since seniors have stepped up as captains. We are sure to make some noise at state.” Torian Jewell who weighs in at 160 pounds has had a pretty rough record; but he still keeps his head high and has a positive attitude for the team. Coach Golladay says, “He has come a long way since freshman year and he’s worked really hard.”

            The coaches are trying their best to make champions out of the team. They have had a great start so far and continue to achieve their goal. They finished 3rd in Capital City Dual in Franklin County, tied for 1st at Rumble in The Hive at Central High School and they are looking forward to being 1st at state and becoming those champions we know they are.

            “Just keep plugging away and trying to turn out some state champs.” says the coach.
