Kentucky Senator Dan Seum with J’town Students
As part of a series of events focused on local and state government, the junior social studies classes were visited by government officials. These events, held October 20 - 22, included visits by Jeffersontown Councilwoman Anita Johnson, Jeffersontown Mayor Clay Foreman, and State Senator Dan Seum. The guests spoke about their personal lives, their day-to-day jobs, and then took questions from students and teachers. The events were planned by Dr. Jackson and included field trips to Jeffersontown Council meetings to get a better look at how government operates at a local level. Dr. Jackson was pleased with the way things turned out and is hoping to have more special guests and council meeting visits in the coming year.
